Some journeys are measured not by distance, but by stillness.

While traveling through Japan, I found myself surrounded by temples slowly emerging from the morning mist. The landscape seemed suspended between earth and sky, where silence felt almost tangible and every sound carried a sense of reverence.

What drew me most was the quiet presence of the Buddha—not as a monument, but as an invitation to pause. The drifting mist softened the boundaries between architecture, nature, and memory, leaving only light, atmosphere, and reflection.

Rather than painting the scene with sharp realism, I wanted the watercolor to breathe. Lost edges, transparent washes, and subtle textures allowed the landscape to dissolve into something closer to a memory than a photograph.

For me, Sound of Silence is a reminder that stillness is not the absence of life, but a space where we begin to hear it more clearly. In a world that rarely slows down, it invites us to pause, reflect, and simply be.
