Cities reveal themselves differently depending on the hour.

On this quiet afternoon in downtown Austin, it wasn't the storefronts that caught my attention—it was the light. Sunlight filtered through the old oak trees, scattering patterns across the sidewalk while strangers moved through them without noticing the fleeting performance taking place beneath their feet.

The beauty of the scene wasn't in any single person. It lived in the relationship between light and shadow, in the rhythm of everyday life unfolding without ceremony.

Rather than painting every architectural detail, I wanted the dappled light to become the true subject. Watercolor allows those moments to remain soft and luminous, where hard edges give way to atmosphere and memory.
